Re: Baja prices
I still think they should make a Forester SUT.
Forester is more "truck" looking than Outback.
Strengthen the chassis and drivetrain (with cooling) to tow Class III 500/5000lb trailers.
Offer it with Tribeca or STI brakes/hubs, 5x114.3 wheel fitment standard.
Offer it with H4, EZ-H6, and Turbo-diesel boxer engine choices... with an STI Special edition with H4 Turbo, as a limited-quantity sport truck.
Legacy Spec.B/WRX STI 6MT Gearbox, or 5EAT with robust updates for VTD or DCCD AWD, and front and rear limited slips. Maybe 4EAT/economical 6MT for the base 4-cylinder model.
Option the interior from rubber-floor and water-tolerant upholstery, up to leather at the top end.
H6 and diesel should have plenty of latent torque to make a little truck like that work well. The Turbo H4 would be a rally-machine homologation from day 1.
Apply all these changes to both SUV and SUT body-styles of the Forester.
IF done right... watch how fast they sell...
But that has about as much likelyhood from current Subaru as my idea for a sport coupe between the GR Impreza's chassis size with 2009 Legacy trim lines for features, with H4, H4 Turbo, and 300+hp H6 and manual gearbox performance with brembos and bilsteins. Similarly ranging from a simple coupe at the bottom, to a turbo fire-breather, to an H6-based successor to the SVX as a Grand Touring coupe.
