Don't think it makes a wit of difference except for appearance. I would want it wide enough to not look like a car from the 60's (skinny tires and body 2 feet wider than axle width). Wider will always handle better (less likely to roll over) but I doubt it would matter much on an SVX. As far as pure traction goes, it matters none at all. Contact patch is contact patch.
