Unfortunately this is not so. I had to have my outback driveshaft shortend 1.5". and on the carier bearing issue, the driveshaft is really 2 seperate shafts that are splined together under the carrier bearing so just hold one end and pull on the other. It's a pretty tight fit though so you may need to put a lot of pressure on it.
