I like the heat shields on the pipes between the engine and the first CAT. There is actually a piece of insulation under the heat shield to reduce the heat loss from the pipe. I did an insulation wrap on those pipes and cats. Then I put the heat shields back on. No way for the heat shields to rattle NOW. (see me locker)
Stainless steel hose clamps work great to hold the shields on too.
