haven't actually seen it in a corolla but could be time for a new ignition switch at that age maybe.

ohh yeah, and when my friend's starter died (also a 95) it started to crank slightly slower than ussual, and then suddenly wouldn't at all, but the lights still dimmed a bit.
I would start by checking the signal at the starter to see if the switch is telling the starter to turn or not. if it is, check the cables for the starter, if nothingis loose or rusted to bits replace starter/or have tested at a parts store. if no signal.. probably ignition switch
