I know it sounds stupid but yes. If soluble stuff is in there it has been probably been damaged, but you could be ok in that direction. Salt will kill it. Fresh water not left too long and dried out, may not leave significant damage. Some detergent will help.

Open the thing up as best you can and sluice it out. Make sure there is no where for water to remain. Use a hair dryer to properly dry things if possible. Then give it a good squirt with CRC or an equivalent.
