As the engine is turning higher rpms on the highway, there's a slight increase in noise in the cabin area, but nothing that was annoying - my summer tires running over the pavement were actually louder.
If I own another SVX and wanted to keep it an automatic, I would not hesitate to upgrade it to 4.44's!

[BTW, if you drive your car at 70, and manually change between 4 and 3, there is a hell of a difference in revs. I'm willing to bet that if measured on a dB meter the sound pressure levels hardly rise at all. Engine noise is well insulated from the cabin.]
