Re: Rubber trim on top of rear wheel well?

Here is a close-up shot of my front fender well. See the thin strip of black rubber along the inner edge of the fender? It runs the entire edge of the metal fender only (not the bumper or the cladding)
The rear fender well looks the same. Here is the diagram
