The Casino and Gambling

Yeah I think I'm addicted.

Me and my roommates from school have usually been going every week, or every other week. We live about 45 minutes from Atlantic City so it's not that bad of a drive and it seems to always be a good time ...win or lose.

Well, I've usually been winning, sometimes better than others, but I did lose real big one time - just wasn't my night. But heck - i can definitely see how it's addicting. When you win money ...and a pretty good amount ...it's hard to turn away and say, "okay, I'm not going anymore."

I've usually just played roulette and have done pretty good. The very first time we went I wound up winning $600 off of beting $120. My roommate wound up walking away with $1,000 that same night. It was amazing, we were souped and ready to come back for more.

Needless to say, of course the second time I lost, but still up from my big win last time. However, my roommate now added another $1,000 to his pot hitting big. It's amazing. We go again - we win ....not as much but we still win. Being able to at least break even in a casino is pretty amazing I think.

So, just recently I steered away from roulette with it's pure random chance that I'm not too excited for. I turned to some Blackjack which can definitely be rough. I've seen people lose a lot of money within seconds of playing. But I had practiced on a blackjack simulator doing some minor card counting and just memorizing the basic strategy card.

We went to the casino again this past thursday and I hit up roulette first - and lost - but moved to blackjack instead. Well, I tried counting cards and that's pretty hard. There's so much going on and the dealer is dam quick for a novice like myself, but the basic strategy card paid off dam good. The odds of blackjack are still in the casino's favor like everything else. BUT, I wound up taking my $100 blackjack run to about $560 within hours. Just playing minimum's and then bumping it up when I felt good about the cards (maybe by seeing a lot of low cards coming out in a recent run). Plus doubling down and spliting on a bad dealer draw card worked quite well. I was at the table for so long I also added about $30 in comp dollars to my player's card!

So - anyone have any casino stories? 'cause I'm hooked. I watch that show American Casino and Breaking Vegas and it's just so interesting. I do know that the casino's have the advantage at every single game there, but all in all it's a good time. We don't get crazy with our bets (or at least not yet) - I mean we are college students so we don't have much money to begin with.
