You can get a ticket for this.........

It a two lane road and there is a traffic light up ahead. About 50 feet from the light a left turn only lane starts. The middle of the road, before the left turn lane, is painted with diagonal double yellow lines filling in the area between my side of the road and the other side of the road before the left turn lane starts. It si about 75 feet long. During heavy traffic times both lanes fill up at least 200 feet before the light.

I am in the long line of traffic and want to make a left turn at the light. No one is in the left turn lane up in front of me to the left. I move forward each time the light turns green. When I get to the yellow lines in the middle of the road I drive over them into the left turn lane.

It is illegal and I watched people get tickets for this on route 1. It seemed as though the police did this every morning at this intersection. Heck, they were getting about two drivers per red light.
