Don't quote me on this but i was at the paint shop today buying paint for my svx to repaint my belt moulding. On the dupont page showing all the subaru paint samples and codes the ebony mica looked like what i expected the paint sample for my 94 ebony pearl to look like...it had obvious red pearl flecks. The paint sample for the 94 ebony pearl didn't look pearl at all...while painting i found that i really had to build the paint up to get it to lay down..after doing so the red pearl became obvious. Long story short is my guess is that they are different formulas for more or less the same result...maybe the mica has more red pearl effect or maybe the effect just works differently. Pear was just getting popular around the time and probably evolved a lil bit.
