Well traction control stops all the wheel spin, I don't think this is the same, as long as both wheels spin the same it won't do anything, as the readings would be the same, but it would stop one wheel from spinning.
It is the back and forth spinning between the front wheels that breaks the gears, it would read this difference in speed sensor readings, to do a torque cut.
