Well said Nick. I think this type of thing definitely has to be approached that way (and even then, the only evidence that could truly convince you of the truth may have to be experiencing something for yourself).
The same goes for a ton of other things: religion, probably over 50% of scientific "fact", which car companies are better than others
, to name a few.
