For shock going from N to R, the ATSG troubleshooting chart suggests the following in order of most likely culprit;
Valve sticking
Faulty 4A accumulator
Deterioration of ATF.
I think the first two are located in the pan and would not require pulling the tranny to have your transmission specialist cure the problem.
