Re: Pulling a windshield?

Piano wire, metal guitar string, and throttle cable are all good ideas-- I didn't have a helper available so I went it alone with a box cutter, a steak knife, and a "windshield removal tool" from Harbor Freight.

I started by removing everything from around the windshield that I could, inside and out. Then it took nearly 2 hours of VERY careful work to cut the glass loose, but it was easier than others I've tried because the side and bottom surfaces the windshield mates to are flat rather than recessed (the top is recessed) so I could easily keep my cutting tool parallel to the glass rather than angling the blade and possibly prying against the glass.

LOTS of work and time, but worth it to get a un-chipped, un-pitted (blue) genuine Subaru SVX windshield for $38(!) from the U-pull place.
