If you have the OEM security module, this does have a starter interrupt function and so could be the cause. However intermittent problems are very difficult to trace.
Check that the ignition switch mounting bolts are not loose, as this has often been reported as a problem. Do a search and you will turn up evidence of several possible alternative and obscure faults.
