That is a new variation on the opposed piston design that has been used by a few engines. In theory a very good inflow system, like the Commer two stroke diesel.
If the sleeves can handle the temperature difference of one side cold the other side hot, it should breath great.
The plug being on edge of a wide combustion chamber, does not look good for combustion, and it would be hard to package.
Where is the drive taken from, a layshaft or one crank end?
