The answer: disconnect the fuse to the warning flasher; this will stop the clicking of the relay. then disconnect the belt from the latch (which should be in the rear of its travel.

Things are getting more complicated; now, the door entry lights are blinking all the time. I just noticed they'd been on all day. So, what'd I do -- another fix! Removed the bulbs from each light. I'm gonna have to really fix this some day. Won't give up, because I just love my Subie SVX.
