Re: What are these for?

Um... this isn't a '94 pearlie is it? I ask because those cables are exactly the same as a set I ran in my '94 pearlie for a car PC install that I tore out when the car left my charge... but I do remember leaving the cabling intact.

The d-cable you're looking at is an old "game port" joystick connector. I used an extension cable to the trunk because I was going to use it as my primary input method for a keypad that was mount on the center console. Some of the pins were going to be broken off for the display (serial, text only), some for the keypad and two more to run into the audio-in connector. Was trying to minimize cabling.

The other connector was an extended floppy power cable to provide power to the display.

Of course, details of my install were published online (carpc.net back in the day...) and I know several people who used my setup as a starting point. I know for a fact that at least two other SVX's got the same config as mine because I got emails about the installation. But damned if that audio connector doesn't look just like the one I had run out of my (then Blaupunkt) head unit.
