My car also has zero oil leak/burn, the oil pan is clean, as well as all surrounding areas, no crud on the under-side, so i should be able to get away with it. Over-all i'm impressed with the quality and condition of my engine, and how it holds it's fluids.
I use the same plan for mine, although I go with Mobil 1.
Plenty of opinions on oil out there

Concerning the filter, I've noticed that in recent years - from about 05 and up - Subaru filters have been getting noticeably smaller. The filter for the WRX (which is the same as the Baja and Forester) is tiny compared to the OEM SVX and Legacy filters from the mid 90s. I wonder what the thinking is behind that? I would assume that bigger is better.
