From Subaru Tech Tips March/April 2002 regarding the differences between oil filter numbers 15208AA060 (4 cyl non turbo) and SOA5165109 (6 cylinder cars):

"Both filters have the same physical dimensions as far as threads, "O" ring, and bypass valve opening pressure (23 p.s.i.). However, the H-4 filter has 141 square inches of filtration surface and the H-6 filter has 201 square inches of filtration surface."

Since they will both fit on either engine, aftermarket companies love to list the same filter for both cars. But since their filter is modeled after Subaru's 4 cylinder filter (15208AA060), you miss out on 60 square inches of filtration surface! Does this sound like a bargain to you??
