I'm reading about all this disparity between model years and I'm thinking, now wait a minute: These cars were virtually identical from first to last. You've got minor transmission tweaks and the transition from motorized belts to dual airbags and the door lock switch on the console and the on-board diagonostics update and a brighter wheel color and the '97 grille and tire size and... What else?

Regardless how many were sold and where, the '93s win the title Most Extraordinary, because they were designated specifically to commemorate Subaru's 25th anniversary of U.S. sales. Beyond that, and excepting optional equipment and trim lines, they're all essentially the same.

The "best" SVX is the one that makes its living getting you where you want to go, dependably and in style.
