24 Hour LeMons Race at Summit Point June 2013

Had the opportunity to attend the 24 Hour Lemons Race yesterday - my son, Tom, is in Race Control. Continues today, of course. Kyle, #2 son, was up from Richmond too, so an EXCELLENT “Fathers Day” with my boys!!!

Crazy cars (for $500, what would one expect?? Smile?), crazy stuff in general. Had the opportunity to drive the “Wounded Warrior” car in the race for about 20 minutes. What a ride. What an experience! The ride? a Mercury Cougar, FWD, automatic. Not very competitive, but I did manage to pass a couple of cars – the rest of the field passed me, LOL! First time for me in an actual “competitive” racing environment, door to door, wheel to wheel. Not unusual for these guys to go into a turn three and four wide (and this is a road course, 2 miles, 17 turns) – impossible to hold a line thru it LOL These guys were serious. But one must remember the cars costs “only” $500 – yea right! So, for me, no “off road" excursions, hitting another car (or getting hit), or no hitting a wall, so a successful day, returned to the pits in one piece ....
Great day – if you have not seen one of these 24 Hour LeMons races, you have missed out on a fun experience. Crazy stuff .....

Here are some photos and video:http://s222.photobucket.com/user/new...?sort=6&page=1 (included are photos from Kyle and Tom’s cameras too – and that screen grab from a on-car video of just one of the deer hits!) Amazing how that was captured .....
