I don't like lightened flywheels because reducing the rotating mass of the flywheel can actually change the characteristics of the engine and enhance the "mt stall" due to its ability to not only speed up faster(w/o load) but slow down faster as well. That and I trust my beefy flywheel spinning at 7000rpm not some piece of aluminum

You hit the nail on the head Tom,
I think a heavier car like an SVX really needs a flywheel with some heft. Low inertia makes starting from a standstill a bi*ch with a heavy car. Makes the day-to-day stop and go traffic very unpleasant.
On Jack's Impreza with the EG33, a lightweight WRX chromoly 5-speed flywheel works fine. But that car weighs +/- 2800 lbs and has 4.11 gears. And you seldom do standing starts while road racing.
