This may have no meaningful bearing on the issue, but Subaru specifies a V-rated tire for the SVX (the North American '92, anyhoo), which is safe for sustained speeds to 149 MPH, as I recall. Seems a reasonable bet that they consider 150 and beyond to be the outer limits.
