You should also put a quart in the TC before putting it on if you have a new TC. For a used one, it probably has enough in there to start with.

Oh..and also, to reiterate about making sure it is seated all the way before installing, and to make sure it hasn't shifted during the installation, I like to turn the TC from the bottom while I am tightening the engine/trans together. If it stops turning freely, you have a problem, STOP!!! Or you will break the oil pump which will result in much swearing.
