That's probably true for the average person.
Interestingly enough, I knew a guy with a dealer's license. He attended auctions for totaled vehicles, purchased whatever vehicles he felt were fixable, bought the necessary parts at cost to fix them (where dealer's license came in handy), and resold the cars at a profit. This was his business and how he made a living.
He was trying to get me to get a car out of the auction. "You can get a nicer car that way."
Personally, I think such cars will prove to be a hassle in the future, kind of like the SVX.
