.. the cap won't do much of anything... at all.. theres a huge difference between the time a capacitor can release stored energy (microseconds) and the time an amplifier needs it to play a musical tone (half seconds to longer)

i'm running over 1900 watts in my car... but the alt was on its way out before i ever installed anything.... still lasted a year hehe
