Agreed, the dealer told you this because they maybe blew your headgaskets during testing and then blamed your cam problem. Or it was preexisting.

At any rate, I dont think anyone here will attest that slight cam timing problems can blow a head gasket. I think you just got lucky and had both coincidentally. At least we found a relatively common problem with the cams, so diagnosing this will be easier for other members.
