While I was investigating a problem (still present) with my A/C I took my glove box out. An interesting discovery I made while back there was that the antenna wire for the remote receiver was all tangled around behind things. I straightened it out as best I could (not easy moving around in there) and now my remote works much better. About 50 feet line of sight and somewhere around 120 feet off the chin. I was thinking of replacing the batteries up to that point but now think it was the misplaced antenna that was the problem.

Just FYI for those of you with short range remote problems even after fresh batteries.
