You'll want to go ahead and clean your deck and gasket flanges now too. The best thing to use is surfacing pads on a die grinder. That's basically a scotch brite disc that goes on a rotary tool--usually a die grinder but you could use a drill if you had to.

Follow LAN's advice here, re the tools to use. You'll eat up your dremel if you try to use it on this.
