This happened to me just the other day. Tested the alt. Turned out to be the culprit was only pushing 12.2 volts...had it rebuilt at my buddys shop for 66.29
. O'reilly quoted me 209 +50 core..... brushes were worn down. I imagine it was the original factory piece. I just installed a new stereo with 2 amps so I figured that pushed the ol unit over the edge. Fixed the problem before the battery got worked over too. High reccommend having it rebuilt as opposed to a new unit... support local plus save money
