What Does SVX Stand For?
The Subaru engineers from Japan were asked this question at the 10th Anniversary Meet in Lafayette, Indiana. They seemed to recollect that the name assigned to the car in development was “Subaru #10”, or “Subaru Vehicle X” (Roman numeral).
Others versions that have been heard:
Subaru Vehicle Xperimental
Safety Vehicle Xperimental
Specialty Vehicle Xperimental
There are probably more versions, but it doesn’t really matter. It just helps add more mystery to this incredible car.
