Does it do the same thing on 'AUTO' temp set @66 degrees?.. Def. also starts the A/C compressor, (a H.P. absorber) could be trying to sieze up....other can be bad battery (charge and test) start the car and turn on everything except the DEF. see if you experience the same loss of power. Battery connections (clean) ..alt. (check output voltage). Check Idler bearings.
