For auto-x, the fact that 1 pony car beat a miata isn't real relevant, IMHO. You'd need an overwhelming sampling of cars and drivers. I've found the #1 factor is the driver. I've seen some whacky results in auto-x. Heck I just turned some heads this past weekend running a '98 outback at a NASA event @ giant's stadium.
