Probably the last question of the day...

Hi folkes, when I run my car, it overheats almost immediately - with coolent hissing out of where the water manifold meets the block on the passenger side - I've pulled the intake plenum and the water manifold. And am replacing the rubber o rings under the coolant manifold

Quick question - can a water pump immediatly fail? The fan system seems to be working fine, but the car got so hot it murdered the gaskets under the water manifold.

Should I check for blockages first, or water pump - engine has 150k on it.
