That's a pretty bold statement. I disagree, but it really depends on what kind of driving you are talking about. I hate the lack of control with downshift/upshift that one has with an auto through the corners. Up here in the NC mountains, half the battle with the road is maintaining the powerband through the twisties. With an auto, I feel that too often it will freak out and upshift (happened to me a lot with my old svx). I really feel that for the enthusiast, a manual is the way to go. Straight line speed - yeah, I could see an auto being preferable.
