Just to update everyone: The new axles are working great!
.. But the transmission is bleeding like a stuck pig, so it has to go... Which means the axles have to come right back out again, and probably go in the garbage since they won't work with whatever trans I end up putting in there.
Oh well. A guy near me has a WRX trans for $350 bucks...
