I remember watching Mark Lovell when he was still rallying in the UK, driving Ford Sierra Cosworths. He was always entertaining to watch, I remember on one occasion he was given team orders on either the Circuit of Ireland or Manx rally to "loose" about 35 secs to allow a certain Colin Mcray to win. Having battled all rally to keep ahead of the others this was not in his plan, so he proceded to "donut" the Sierra on the second to last corner of the stage as a mark of his displeasure.
We mark the passing of another of rallyings great partnerships, these two guys had been driver/co-driver for something like twenty years. This just proves the point that motorsport can be dangerous, even to the most experienced.
RIP and best wishes to the families.
Phil.
