It's a '95 GS-T with no ABS.

Yeah, that link is nice, but it confirms my suspicions - that there isn't any trick to it; the thing is just stuck. Beyond removing the axle nut, the directions on that site basically say to disassemble enough of the suspension so you can swing it away from the axle.

Frustrating...but thanks.

A friend has a big press. We're waiting on a tool to gently separate the tie rod from the knuckle, and once we have that detached I can take the entire mess (knuckle, suspension arms, axle, etc) over and try to press the axle out.
