Brown wire from alternator, thanks for the tip, will do when I get home tonight. Really need to give it another once over to make sure I didn't pinch any wires while I was cranking bolts down.

Is it possible that the ECU is 'smart' enough to detect a dead cell in the battery causing a warning light? It goes off when the cars starts (although I did get the "check engine" light about half mile into the trip home). Probably wishful thinking, since when this car was built (92), the internet was just a baby, and cell phones were as big as bricks.
