Father's Day, 1992: my buddy (who works as the Corvette specialist at the downtown 80+ year old Chevy/Subaru store) drove the Factory rep's Claret SVX LSi to a Father's Day brunch we were attending. We traded cars for the ride home. WOW!
The 1st time there was a new, SVX loss-leader in the Saturday Auto Section in the Oregonian we bought one, for $23K, as I recall.
Never looked back & never regretted it for a moment. The first winter snowstorm I drove calmly by while all the Nissan Z, Supra, RX7, Corvette, BMW, etc. drivers went slipping and sliding to the side of the road to chain up
A couple Audi and, of course, the other Subaru drivers, were getting around jus' fine! Turns heads 11 years & 100K+ later, and it runs like a top.
At least 5 years before its time, IMHO. For 23 BIG one$ now-a-days you get your basic, mid-level 4WD SUV or a 2WD Pacifica...
Or a decent 1/2 ton truck.
BLUG!
