In the early SVXes, there was a complaint of "hesitation" from many buyers. It was not actually "hesitation" but, a "lag" that was built in from the factory to keep from adding too much torque to the drive train at take-off. With so many complaints, Subaru decided to provide a "fix" for this problem, which was to crush the "noise supressor" in the ECU.
