Re: SVXWN Facebook group
OK, no problem if you don't agree with it.
As I understand it when the Facebook site was put up first it used the Network's registered name and logo.
These were taken down when the lack of permission was pointed out.
I don't see the need for permission as petty, but I understand how many could see it that way. Plenty of other websites are much more structured and controlled about how the information and logos on their sites are used.
There are plenty of specialist website for cars and bikes where you can't advertise your vehicle or parts for sale unless you are a paid up member.
But not the SVXWN
Lots of websites you can't see How-tos unless you are a paid up member.
But not the SVXWN
Plenty of websites you can't post a technical request or get access to certain technical areas unless you are a paid up member.
But not the SVXWN
The fact remains that this is a privately owned website, run by enthusiasts of the SVX for enthusiasts of the SVX. Even at that a pretty small percentage of total users on this site contribute to the membership fees that go to carrying the costs associated with purchase and maintenance of servers and bandwidth used, a very substantial cost.
As I said, I'm not against the idea, I think it is excellent, but the need for permission to use the logo is in no way petty; it protects the image and identity that has been built up by all those SVX people over all those years.
