Someone more knowledgeble than me (and there are many) might field this one later, but, it's my undestanding that, in the '92, '93 model year SVXes, there was a screen at the inlet to the cooler that kept getting clogged. The updated radiator took care of this problem, so, supposedly, no, you wouldn't need an external cooler. However, if I owned a newer model SVX, I would consider it "cheap insurance." Not only would I do the cooler, but, I'd buy the 92 program filter kit and install it. Another "cheap insurance" move. But, that's just me.
