I had a rebuilt trans and it gave these kind of symptoms when "fresh"

This is how the trans engineer cured the problem:

In a safe enclosed yard he ran the car very quickly up and down the yard in forward and reverse. Not quite standing quarter launch, but smartish. A good number of times.

Then he did the figure of eight for a bit in both directions.

The theory behind it is the new friction materials on the clutches have not smoothed in to their normal working state. Giving them a bit of a hard run in all directions helps them to bed in and get smooth.

If you still have problems after doing this, you might need to go back to the guy and have him check the electric clutch pack at the rear of the box.
