Re: A question for the Transmission experts
Unfortunatly, pat has requested the solenoid be returned so I can't do an autopsy.
The reason I checked line pressure to begin with was that the shifts were so "loose" feeling that I had an inclination that I wasn't getting enough pressure, i thought maybe that i had something bleeding off, but I had no idea that it was going to be so low. I am surprised it would even hold the clutches together with only 75 psi. Of course, the first thing you should do when diagnosing a transmission shift concern is get out the line pressure gauge, especially with a 4EAT, since the older ones are bad about leaking off pressure on the pump gasket. There is a multitude of taps on the case that can show you pressure at every circuit.
