As far as swapping parts, it is extremely common, 80's Jeeps had Chevy motors in them, Chrysler/Hundai/Mitsubishi created the new "World" 4 cylinder engines. Mitsubishi engines in chrysler/dodges throughout the 90's and 2000's. Mitsu 3000GT=Dodge Stealth, Plymouth Lazer=Mitsubishi Eclipse=Eagle(formerly a Chrysler division as well) Talon, Chevy Trailblazer=Isuzu Ascender=GMC Envoy.... I got tired of thinking, my brain hurts
