I think I've got an early 1998 Outback tranny. Searched part lists and come up with two trans codes for '98 & '99 on parts list: mine TZ102Z2DBA - KF and TZ1AZJEBA. Sometimes mine comes up as 1999 2.5L Outback/SUS. Looked for external filter on driver's side and didn't see any. Could it have been taken off? Is there a way to tell if it had one?

Next, if I'm good to go, will need to get a torque converter. I'm told SVX's is a lot different from Legacy; 23 splines vs. 22 and some other differences. The one in my SVX is probably shot, so should I go for a reman SVX or Outback (to match the tranny)?

I got a brand new rear diff., what is best option grind case on outback diff and add LSD from SVX or swap ring gear from outback into SVX?
