A quicker SVX!

Hi Bernie,
No one has done a manual conversion in Aust. yet,. that I know of.
As Huck has said, the lower ratio does make the difference. I
have been pushing this for some time. An auto with lower final drive gears is the way to go.

The box is strong enough, as long as it has the later updates carried out, to fix the flaking facing problem, that leads to blocking the cooler, with the resultant lack of lube to the gearset.
I am not sure if the 93 model has the later faceings or not.

The engine has good torque, just needs to be moved lower down the speed range, to a more usefull speed range.

A 4.11 will incress the torque at the wheels by 18% and reduce the load on the box by the same amount.

Liberty crown wheel and pinion set, front and back, would do the job.
